Pete Conroy’s Story of Survival & Resilience

Pete & Emma Have recorded a podcast - Life After Impact (Sept 2025) in the effort to help others navigating life’s big curve balls - whether it be a Spinal Cord Injury or any other big challenge, they hope their story can help others facing and navigating the unimaginable…

More on Pete’s Story;

On November 3rd, 2022, Pete faced a life-altering accident when a tree fell on his car during his morning commute to work. Miraculously, Pete survived, but the incident left him with severe injuries.

Pete endured multiple fractures, including his neck, sternum, and back. The damage to his C4, C5, and C6 vertebrae has resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him quadriplegic. After spending six weeks in the Austin Hospital Spinal Unit, including three weeks in intensive care, Pete embarked on a challenging journey of rehabilitation.

For eight months, Pete worked tirelessly at the Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre, determined to regain his strength and independence. Finally, in July 2023, Pete returned home to begin his arduous road to recovery.

As of August 2025, Pete continues to show incredible progress through regular physiotherapy and exercise physiology. However, the additional progressive therapies crucial to his recovery are not covered by insurance. These therapies hold the key to Pete's dream of walking again and reclaiming the use of his arms and hands.

Pete's resilience and positive outlook have been unwavering throughout this difficult time. His short to medium-term goals include standing up and eventually taking steps, as well as transitioning from a power wheelchair to a manual assist wheelchair. While these goals are within reach, they require extensive therapy and progressive treatments.

Let's come together and rally behind Pete as he works tirelessly to rebuild his life. Together, we can help Pete on his path to walking again and achieving his goals.

Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and unwavering support.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Pete, Emma & Family
